John Stoudenmire

Summerville, SC

Unique, inspired stoneware and porcelain pieces. When John makes a piece, basic wheel throwning and hand building are just the beginning. He lavishly embellishes his pieces with hand crafted sculptural forms, incised and pressed texturing, and detailed glaze painting. Many objects, like his toad houses, are covered with raised, organic details such as leaves, vines, and textured bark. John’s pieces are completely functional and may be safely left outdoors. His serving pieces are food and oven safe, but embellished pieces should be hand washed to protect raised areas from chipping.

John enjoys firing decorative raku pieces, and these are occasionally available at the gallery.
