Clay and Encaustic Wax

Jousting with windmills is mild compared to the pottery madness I have explored through my art over the past 43 years. Pottery has been my professional occupation and life-time passion. I am a wheel-aholic and have loved every second of having my hands in clay while throwing pots, hand building and sculpting.

As my life unfolds, I feel an urgency to speak through my clay. My current clay works address the many complex layers of life and finding the textures those layers reveal. I am focusing on exploring multiple ways to incorporate my love for textured surfaces through forms and additionally creating lava like, wildly unpredicatable glazes.

My work is primarily influenced by the macro-vision of natural shapes that we see every day and commonly overlook. I am fascinated by the intricacy of these forms when examined closely. Working in clay offers endless possibilities to express these ideas. All this comes into play as I dream up my next adventure!
