Leatherwork

Why Restoried? My designs are centered around reuse; giving a new story to materials that have been discarded. I only ever use leather scraps from the furniture making process or reclaimed leather which I've stripped from discarded leather bags/furniture. I enjoy using every scrap and tranforming it into a tote, then from the totes scraps it becomes a wallet or bracelet, until only the scrap of leather is a string, which I use to tie on the recycled grocery bag tag. My style is minimalist and highlights the natural beauty of each unqiue piece of leather. I don't use any templates so each piece is truly a one of a kind. My process of design is very simple, I play with different colors of fabric or leather until something works. The image of a wild horse is honor where my husband and I started our creative story in Corolla, NC. Our property bordered the wild horses reserve and from time to time they could be found on walkabout in our yard. It was only fitting to keep the horse logo when we moved to Hilton Head Island which also has a history of wild horses.
