Gini Steele is a Charleston, SC, textile artist who follows a tradition among the women in her family of working in textile arts. Gini learned the art of knitting and crochet from her mother and grandmother, who were a deep source of inspiration. She enjoys exploring and experimenting with color and texture while using modern as well as traditional techniques. Sourcing many of her fibers from spinners and hand dyers throughout the southeast, Gini creates on-of-a-kind original, contemporary accessories which have been exhibited in juried art shows as well as galleries.
