Wood

The work I do with wood is called “wood turning”, because the end product is produced on a lathe -  a machine that rotates. I begin with a solid piece of wood, such as a section of a tree, or a construction I have created by assembling many precisely cut pieces from several different species of lumber. The latter is called “segmented construction.” Often I carve designs in the pieces made from a solid piece of wood.

Most of my pieces are finished with lacquer. When lacquer is cured, it is food safe.

I recommend that my pieces be used only for decoration or accent pieces, and not used for serving or storing food.
